¶¶ÄÌÊÓƵ respects and appreciates the sacrifices Veterans make for our country and values the leadership and decision-making skills they bring to the civilian workforce. That’s why we’re renewing our efforts in Veteran recruitment and retention through the creation of a dedicated Veterans Employee Resource Group (ERG).
The ¶¶ÄÌÊÓƵ Veterans ERG is charged with bringing visibility and awareness to the needs of the company’s current and potential Veteran associates and supporters. In an effort to prioritize retention, the ERG has appointed internal regional co-chairs who offer local plants support and education around Veteran-specific needs. These dedicated members aid the company’s success in attracting talented Veterans to the workforce, such as sending human resource teams to local job fairs. Here, the human resource teams work one-on-one with Veterans to help them translate and articulate qualifications to recruiters, from ¶¶ÄÌÊÓƵ or outside organizations, so their unique skills can be leveraged and used effectively in everyday business environments.
Terry Farrell, ¶¶ÄÌÊÓƵ’s NA IP Telephony Voice Services Project Manager and the Chairman of the Veterans Employee Resource Group, says, “The Veterans ERG works to understand the specific needs of Veterans, whether they are current or potential ¶¶ÄÌÊÓƵ employees, to create a better workplace for them and in turn, leverage their unmatched skill-set. We prioritize everything from developing forms of communication for those without computers, to creating better recruiting practices for Veterans specifically. ¶¶ÄÌÊÓƵ not only works to honor Veterans, but also create a space for them to excel in the workplace.â€
The ¶¶ÄÌÊÓƵ Veterans ERG also works to impact Veterans in the local communities by supporting and volunteering with initiatives such as Homes for Our Troops and Toys for Tots, among others. Giving back to those who have served is a priority for ¶¶ÄÌÊÓƵ, in and out of the workplace.
